Sandberg Development invests in water technology company SWATAB

The family owned investment company Sandberg Development invests in SWATAB (SCANDINAVIAN WATER TECHNOLOGY AB). The investment implies a growth venture with an upscaling of the organization and production, which will be built in Sandberg Development’s premises in Malmö.

SWATAB is a family owned company based outside of Kristianstad which was founded in 2013 by the Klöfverskjöld family. SWATAB has developed and patented an innovative chemical-free system for washing textiles. By connecting the company’s filter system to the ordinary tap water, washing with ultrapure water is made possible - completely without detergents and harmful chemicals. Furthermore, it enables washing at lower temperatures, makes the drying time shorter and uses less energy; all this in combination with a better working environment.

SWATAB’s customers are, among others, Familjebostäder in Gothenburg, Malmö City, MKB Property and Grand Hotel in Lund, which won the prize for best environmental initiatives in the competition Swedish Meeting Prize in May 2018, for washing sheets and towels without chemicals.

Sandberg Development invests in innovation and technology-driven companies with great growth potential which contribute to social value. SWATAB is a logical investment for us – we can contribute with industrial experience and financial strength in order to establish this unique washing method on a broad front, Martin Jonsson, President and CEO of Sandberg Development, says.

The idea and the development of SWATAB have their origins from the Klöfverskjöld family painting business. Washing with ultrapure water was initially used for cleaning facades. To enable a larger commercial production and venture, the owner family has identified a need for an external partner.

SWATAB’s washing technique has a very large potential, but we need an industrially and financially strong partner to be able to take the next step in our development. With Sandberg Development we now have a long-term partner and I am looking forward to renewing the washing of the future and making the world cleaner together, Katarina Klöfverskjöld, President and owner of SWATAB, says.

SWATAB and Sandberg Development has prepared a business plan for the coming three years. The plan means, among other things, an upscaling of the organization, including recruitment of a new president, a move to Sandberg Developments facilities in Malmö to establish a new product line. Sandberg Development’s investment in SWATAB amounts to a participating interest of 24,9%. Sandberg Development’s President and CEO Martin Jonsson and GRANULDISK’s CEO Peter Schön will take seats in the board of SWATAB.
