Solo Rescue to spin-off from GRANULDISK

Sandberg Development has decided to spin-off and concentrate the business within the subsidiary GRANULDISK’s product area SOLO Rescue.

GRANULDISK, which is the market leader in commercial potwashing machines, has noticed an increased interest in Solo Rescue, a heavy-duty washing machine for the decontamination of fire rescue equipment, from the fire and rescue service across a range of markets. Sandberg Development has therefore decided to concentrate, focus and add resources to SOLO Rescue to development the new business opportunities further.

As Solo Rescue’s customers differ from GRANULDISK’s traditional professional kitchen customers, and that we for some time now have seen an increased interest in this product, it is natural that we want to try to take advantage of the commercial opportunities by focusing and accelerating the strengthening of resources, Martin Jonsson, President and CEO of Sandberg Development, the owner of GRANULDISK, says.

Solo Rescue is a heavy-duty washing machine for the decontamination of fire rescue breathing apparatuses, which has been developed by GRANULDISK in cooperation with the Swedish Rescue Service for three years. Customers are, above all, fire and rescue services which need to clean contaminated equipment – such as breathing apparatuses, gloves, helmets and boots - after use. In many places the equipment is still cleaned by hand, which poses a great health risk since the crew is exposed to the carcinogenic residues from combustion gases, soot particles and toxins. Using the GRANULDISK potwasher as a basis, a new washing machine has been developed for this specific need. The cleaning reduces the health risks for the fire fighters. The product was launched in Sweden in 2013 and can be found on several European markets. Within short tests will take place in the USA, where interest is growing fast.

We have noticed an increased interest for the product in Europe and have on-going pilot projects in the USA. By focusing the business under its own distinct brand, in combination with a substantial reinforcement of means, among others future recruitments, we are convinced we have the right prerequisites for succeeding, Peter Schön, CEO of GRANULDISK says.

The spin-off process, which among other things means the transfer of product rights and change of name, was started during spring and initially affects a few collaborators. Sandberg Development has made the decision to invest with the aim of building and focusing the business in the new company. The president of SOLO Rescue will initially be Peter Schön and the process, including the change of name, will be completed during the early autumn.

Peter Schön will, as soon as a substitute has been recruited, leave his operative commission in GRANULDISK and reinforce the parent company Sandberg Development’s business development with investments in new business areas.
